You know a guy has super-power when the whole world wants to own him, even though he’s the elected President of just one democracy. Luckily for us, it’s easy to see what makes for Obama’s super-power!
1. The Power Girlfriend
Guys with a natural, effortless power are attracted to girls who are intelligent and can hold their own. Look at Michelle and you’ll know in an instant what I’m talking about.
BO’s unabashed in his love and respect for his partner. And it’s not just the PDA (though we have enough of those moments as well), it’s the genuine affection and respect that he has for her – the kind you can’t fake. Yup, that’s what sets this man apart, and makes others look like dwarfs in comparison.
2. Don’t Take No Shit
The super-powerful neither get dragged down to the level of trolls, nor do they allow them to get away with it.
Obama had the perfect response when a guy heckled him mid-speech “You’re in my house” Obama said, playfully reminding him of his manners. But when the heckler persisted, Obama took a more serious approach. “You’re not gonna get a good response from me by interrupting me like this.” And instructed security to escort the heckler out.
3. Stay Unruffled
No matter what you do, you’ll have critics and detractors. The Obama Way is to simply let them be.
Back in ’08 while he talked about all the mud-slinging aimed at him, he had the ultimate reaction. He said “You’ve gotta expect it, and you’ve just gotta kinda…” and moved on to dust off his shoulders, while “Dirt Off the Shoulder” played in the background.
4. The Humour
The rule of super-power is to stay light.
Obama can carry off embarrassing dad jokes. Remember the one at Thanksgiving “Time flies, even if Turkeys don’t!”
He can take a dig at himself with aplomb. He had quipped on Ellen “I thought it was a pretty cheap stunt myself” in response to her Oscar selfie that broke his Twitter re-tweet record.
Of course, it’s the self-deprecating kinds that’s his standout style. Looking back at his tenure he had said “Lots of ups, lots of downs. Except for my approval ratings, which have just gone down!”
5. Chemistry has its roots in Biology
Study after study has proven that people with sex appeal ooze charisma.
Obama is fit as hell – he can shoot hoops, he can run in a suit, and he can own the dance floor. His moves on Ellen got people completely hypnotized! (And now I just have to look it up & watch it again!)
6. That Swag Tho
Now, there’s the thing about a guy in power. He walks into a room, as if he owns it, and the others know it. Michelle had told Oprah that BO “was always very swagalicious”
And with that uber cool “Obama out!” mic drop moment, the whole world knew it was a fact! (Look it up, if you missed it somehow!)
7. Nothing Succeeds Like Success
Fact of the matter is, none of us would be interested in dissecting the Obama cool-factor had he not been President. Guys who are successful at what they do, they get noticed. And if those guys know how to talk about their victories without sounding pompous, that’s the Obama Way!
Remember how he had famously said, “I have no more campaigns to run. I know, ‘cause I won both of ‘em!”
Obama’s infectious smile – yup, the very electric nature of that smile that makes his eyes glisten –pretty powerful, I’d say!
Then, the fact that he breaks into a song in front of a crowd. Or, fist-bumps his wife instead of the expected hug and kiss, to celebrate a victory.
Also, his eloquence. Whether he’s defending the time he took to respond “because I like to know the facts first” or calling Kanye West “a jackass” for what he did to Taylor Swift at the MTV Awards.
9. Super-power is G-Rated
Obama’s an incredibly great family guy. His love for his wife and his girls, Malia and Sasha is obviously visible.
And he’s super kid friendly. His rendezvous with 2-year-old Prince George was utterly adorable. He joked that the prince met him in a bedtime robe, because “some foreign leaders are looking ahead” referring to the fact that he was on his way out of the White House.
10. Stand Up For What’s Right
It’s interesting how using your power for the right causes ends up making you more powerful.
Obama’s never been shy of effecting changes he has believed in, even if it makes certain sections uncomfortable – whether it was his stance on the LGBTQ rights or the one on nuclear policy. He understood the importance of doing the right thing, and standing up for it!
Obama, the guy with super-power! And aren’t we happy it was him!
So when you guys achieve super-power, remember what Spiderman’s uncle Ben said- With great power comes great responsibility. Because he was onto something.
