Whether or not you watched the Golden Globes 2017, the fashion looks on display shouldn’t escape you. Here’s a handy guide for you, especially if you and your friends are planning your look for the farewell party at your school/ college, or for a formal re-union party, or even a wedding function where the dress code says black-tie.
Even if you’re not gonna read the rest of the article, here’s my top two take-aways for you. One, monochromatic looks ruled.
And two, beards may have just become the new must-have fashion accessory for men. I heard that it was such a full-blown display of facial hair that this year’s Golden Globes was actually called “Beard Parade”. Yup, true story.
Ryan Gosling- Old Hollywood Glam
No matter how many times I look and re-look at Ryan Gosling’s pictures from the Golden Globes, I cannot close that tab without a deep sigh.
It’s quite a do-able look guys; I suggest you book-mark it. The whole look is monochromatic, yet the surprise element of white on white makes it stand out. Velvet is in, and hence the bow-tie. And that dash of red on his pocket – so charmingly old-Hollywood! I couldn’t miss how cute his nicely manicured stubble looks.
Justin Timberlake- Dreamy Elegance
Once again a monochromatic tux, brought up a notch or two with a few simple styling tips that any guy can easily copy-paste 😉 It’s a single-button shawl jacket, which is mostly the trend that celebrities favoured. The buttons on the shirt stand out in a different colour. And so do the white pocket square and the white shirt sleeves bordering the jacket.
And the scruff. Do not miss the scruff guys, you can tell a lot of love has gone into cultivating and nurturing this one.
Simon Helberg – Classy Transformation
Remember this guy from The Big Bang Theory? I totally love how the simple addition of a beard transformed his look from Puppy Dog to Handsome. And doesn’t he wear the salt in his beard with panache? I mean, who would’ve thought? Full marks there. And so simple: any guy trying to break out of a nerdy, boy-ish look could totally try this male grooming trend.
The white bow-tie is a nice surprise, coupled with the white pocket-square.
Oh, and by the way, I have a third take-away. And this is the most important one. (You didn’t think I would have one reserved for those who read through? Come on 🙂 )
If you didn’t have time to prepare for this formal do, if you missed all the gym sessions that you paid for, and even if you didn’t care for your skin the last few weeks. It’s ok.
Here’s the secret: All guys look cute in a well-fitting tux. So long as it’s not borrowed and all, you won’t go wrong.
So, as our beloved Barney Stinson would’ve proudly commanded you, “Suit Up! And be awesome!” And maybe grow some beard 😉
